About this experience

Saxon Tower, Oxford's oldest building, affording splendid views of the city. St Michael at the North Gate is the city church of Oxford, boasting the oldest stained glass in Oxford, and a font by which William Shakespeare was a godparent. John Wesley preached here and William Morris (pre-Raphaelite) was married in the church. Charles I visited the church and the cell door of the Bishops Latimer, Ridley and Cranmer can be seen in the tower. They were imprisoned in the Bocardo prison over the north gate which used to adjoin the tower.
