The Fisheries Museum
Fjords, NorwayBy the beautiful harbour in Ålesund you can find the landmark Holmbua. The warehouse from 1861 escaped the great Town Fire of 1904, and today it holds Aalesunds Museums´ fisheries exhibitions.
Take a stroll through the exciting displays and learn more about the town's production of dried cod and other types of fish products. Stop by the laboratory where cod liver oil is produced, the smell alone will set you in the right mood! You will also have the unique possibility to learn more about old trades that are practically extinct today, such as barrel making.
In 2010, a new and large exhibition on sea fishing opened - worth a visit!
