Helsinki Region, Finland

About this experience

During a visit to the UNESCO World Heritage Site Verla Groundwood and Board Mill you can relive early history of the forest industry and the workers life in a small village: the original mill buildings and machinery with the 19th century methods, the patrons residence, the surrounding area and the idyllic worker's cottages as well as the Verla rapids and its power plants.

In summer, the village workshops and boutiques are a further attraction. Demonstrations are given on special craft days. There are also exhibitions and a history walk - a short route with information in the mill area.

You can also relax on a 2km forest trail.
