Conserving Bulgaria’s unique ecosystems
About Bulgarian Biodiversity Foundation
Founded in 1997, the Bulgarian Biodiversity Foundation (BBF) is a leading non-profit organization committed to the preservation of Bulgaria's unique biodiversity and natural heritage. Over the years, BBF has played a crucial role in conserving endangered species, protecting key habitats, and raising awareness about environmental issues across the country. BBF also leads educational initiatives, empowering local communities to become active stewards of their natural environment.
As the BBF is committed to promoting eco-friendly practices that help balance human activity with nature conservation, we actively partner with local communities, government agencies, and international organizations to develop projects that promote sustainable tourism and conservation-based livelihoods.
Protecting key biodiversity areas is what we stand for, including Bulgaria's national parks, wetlands, and forests, which are home to endangered species such as the brown bear, wolves, and the imperial eagle. The organization also focuses on habitat restoration, reforestation, and the sustainable management of natural resources.
The BBF directly supports vital initiatives that protect endangered species and fragile ecosystems:
- restore and protect precious ecosystems across Bulgaria
- preserve endangered species and promote biodiversity
- fund educational programs that inspire future conservation leaders
Donations help fund essential projects such as habitat restoration, species monitoring, and community-based conservation efforts.
