About Fundatia ADEPT

Fundatia ADEPT is a non-profit organization dedicated to preserving the rich biodiversity and traditional cultural landscapes of Transylvania, particularly in the Târnava Mare region. ADEPT’s work centers around promoting sustainable rural development and empowering local communities to maintain their traditional farming practices, which have been key to preserving the region’s unique wildlife and habitats.

Since 2004 the mission of ADEPT is to protect the stunning biodiversity of the Transylvanian landscapes by supporting the communities who have maintained them for centuries. Our approach combines nature conservation with the promotion of sustainable agriculture and eco-friendly tourism. We work tirelessly to preserve endangered species, such as the lesser spotted eagle and the European roller, as well as traditional hay meadows and pastures, which are some of the most biodiverse in Europe. ADEPT’s work benefits both wildlife and people, ensuring that traditional farming practices that support biodiversity continue to thrive.
