About Malta Environment Foundation

Founded in 2001, the Malta Environment Foundation is dedicated to preserving and restoring Malta's natural environment and biodiversity. With Malta facing unique environmental challenges—such as rapid urbanization, habitat loss, and climate change—our mission is to protect the island’s fragile ecosystems and promote sustainable development that benefits both nature and local communities.

The Malta Environment Foundation focuses on conserving Malta’s rich biodiversity, from its coastal ecosystems and marine life to its rare plants and wildlife. We work to protect key habitats, including nature reserves, forests, and wetlands, which are home to species like the Maltese wall lizard, migratory birds, and unique marine species. Through habitat restoration, environmental education, and advocacy, we aim to safeguard these critical areas for generations to come.

This important work involves reforestation projects, marine conservation efforts, and campaigns to protect endangered species and habitats. Further more we raise awareness about the importance of environmental preservation and engage communities in sustainable practices.
